Bell Wildlife Specialties is hosting a Youth Turkey Hunt during the first weekend of the special youth seaon. First-time turkey hunters are given first option for this hunt. Description

Youth age 11-16 who have an interest in learning how to hunt turkeys are eligible to apply for one of the coveted spots in the 17th Annual Council Grove Youth Turkey Hunt. Lucky young hunters will hunt with experienced mentors on April 1, during the youth turkey season. Deadline for registration is March 20. The hunt is sponsored by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT), area chapters of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation, and Ducks Unlimited, as well as the U.S.

Description

Children ages 12 to 17 years old who have not harvested a turkey are encouraged to apply for the hunts, which will take place April 1 through 14 at Jeffrey Energy Center, located seven miles north of St. Marys. Registration opens March 20, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis

Youths will need a shotgun and must be accompanied by an adult mentor, preferably someone without turkey hunting experience. Hunters ages 15 years and younger will need to purchase a youth spring turkey permit.

Description

KDWPT/ Clinton State Park chapter of Fishing’s Future will host a Kid’s Fishing Derby on April 22, 2017 at Lake Henry.   Children up to age 15 are invited to bring their poles (or one will be provided). Everything else needed to catch fish will be provided, to include assistance from local anglers.  We’ll give you instruction, supplies and bait.  We’ll let you enjoy fishing with your little angler.  If you need help we’ll be there! 

Registration will open at 9:00 AM, and the derby will run from 10:00 to 11:30.
