Youth Turkey Hunt Success For Aaralynn

Every year the Kansas Hunting & Fishing Facebook Page gives away a youth turkey hunt for a lifetime! This year the giveaway winner was 15 year old Aaralynn! Aaralynn took the field with mentors, Eric Brown and Blake Rapp got it done this Saturday morning at about 10:30. The birds didn’t pitch into the field we originally set up in so we decided to do some spot and stalk. We spotted a group of 30+ turkeys in what appeared to be still a wintering group. We watched as they crossed an open pasture slowly and knew we wouldn’t be able to pull the few toms away from all the hens. As they crossed I noticed 3 toms still hanging back. I struck the pot call from Ark River Calls and they came running. Closed 250 yards in under 5 minutes. One shot later and her season was closed out! 21.2 pounds, 8 3/8” Beard and 1 inch spurs.
