SCHEDULE + DETAILS

Date: May 3rd, 2025

Location: Hunting will take place on public and/or private land in Hodgeman County, KS 

Meet at Horsethief Reservoir, Anglers Oasis Cabin.

Time: 5:00 AM 

Youth: 11 to 15 (Youth 16-18 years old who applied for and were awarded a Unit 4 tag are eligible to put in for this hunt) 

Number of Youth: 5

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: 

All Hunters must be Hunter Education certified.

Unit 4 Kansas Turkey Permit and KS hunting license for youth over 15. 

Youth 15 and under will only need a Youth Turkey Permit valid in Unit 4.  

 WHAT TO EXPECT:  

Each young hunter must be accompanied by a trusted adult to participate. Hunts will take place in the early morning and go until the youth is tired of hunting or tagged out. 

Hunting will be conducted from blinds or spot and stalk. Participants will be led by experienced volunteer mentors. Hunters are encouraged to bring their shotgun, but one can be provided if needed. The volunteer mentors leading the hunt have plenty of experience and will walk the youth hunters through each step of the hunt. 

This will be a wild Turkey Hunt. We will meet, have a safety talk, and discuss the plans of the hunt, then answer any questions youth hunters might have. 

All Hunters need to ensure that their firearms are patterned before the hunt. 

Mentors will help field dress any game harvested.
