Introduction to Wingshooting Hosted by Minneapolis Metro Area (MN)

The Metro Area Chapter Wingshooting System is specifically designed to pass on the fun and excitement of wingshooting for youth by building five simple steps for success. Each of the steps moves seamlessly to the next and culminates in hitting more targets. The system is easy to use AND easy to remember! Each student will learn to properly shoot a shotgun. Our five-step system will teach students their dominant eye, establish foot position and appropriate posture, how to mount a shotgun, point at a target, concentrate on a target, and ultimately break a target. The system is designed to give the student the basics, so they feel comfortable carrying and shooting a shotgun before entering a field to hunt. In addition, our program provides the foundation for a student to advance his or her skills in a shooting sports program. We encourage students to come to all three sessions in order to broaden their skills.

2026 Five-Step Wingshooting Program

Elk River Sportsman's Club Youth Day

Youth Day is an event at the ERSC open to the general public. The event was created to introduce non shooters to the shooting sports and provide the opportunity for someone interested,  to try various firearms in a safe and stress free environment, and ask questions.

The ranges are all closed for regular use, and hay rides bring guests to different locations to try pistol, trap shooting, muzzleloader, archery, rifles, rimfire, air rifles, and airsoft.

This is a free event, and all firearms and ammunition are provided,  Guests receive one on one instruction from volunteers who are knowledgeable, and safety is always first.

There are often demonstrations of various shooting disciplines and snacks or a light lunch are provided.  In the past there have also been demos on fly fishing, bow fishing, outdoor cooking, and camping.

Ages 16 and under.

This is an annual event that runs rain or shine in mid June. For more information, check our website for updates, or contact Bob W. at president@ersportsman.com
