Learn to Butcher Workshop
Join us at Sandhill Wildlife Area for an immersive and hands-on Deer Butchering Workshop hosted by the National Deer Association. You will gain essential skills in processing and preparing venison. The instructor will break down deer processing into step-by-step instructions, share tips on hanging a deer at home and how to store your venison by wrapping or vacuum sealing for the freezer. We’ll also cover deer aging and biology! Participants should come prepared to help skin, quarter, cut, trim, and package. All supplies will be provided, and all skill levels are encouraged to attend.

Log into https://gowild.wi.gov/
Navigate to “Manage safety Education”
Click on “Search for Classes”
In Course Type select “Learn to Hunt”
In County select “Wood”
Search and click “enroll” and you are registered for the class!

Manitowoc County Pheasant's Forever Pheasant Hunt 9-27-2025
Pheasants Forever is holding a FIRST TIME HUNTER PHEASANT HUNT, Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at the Thunderbird Game Farm in Collins, WI. This hunt will teach you everything you need to know about pheasant hunting. You will have the opportunity to hunt with an experienced mentor.
It starts at 7am and goes on until 2 pm. Must have completed the Wisconsin DNR Hunter Education Course in 2025. Limited to the first thirty-six people that signed up.

Hunt-n-Cover Challenge – Team up and put your instincts to the test
Team Calling Exposition – 30 seconds to impress using any call
The Grand Kahoot – A fast-paced quiz to flex your waterfowl knowledge
No pressure, all fun—these informal competitions are built for laughs, learning, and some serious bragging rights. Oh, and did we mention the awesome prizes? You could win guided hunts, fishing trips, premium duck calls from JT Calls and Last Flight Calls, and Fleet Farm gift cards.
FREE to enter and open to all teens ages 14–18.
While you’re here, check out the State Calling Competitions on Saturday morning and pick up tips from the pros. Swing through the Youth Zone for even more hands-on fun—like try-a-gun, duck stamp art, archery, and more.
