Manitowoc County Pheasant's Forever Pheasant Hunt 9-27-2025

Pheasants Forever is holding a FIRST TIME HUNTER PHEASANT HUNT, Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at the Thunderbird Game Farm in Collins, WI. This hunt will teach you everything you need to know about pheasant hunting. You will have the opportunity to hunt with an experienced mentor.

It starts at 7am and goes on until 2 pm. Must have completed the Wisconsin DNR Hunter Education Course in 2025. Limited to the first thirty-six people that signed up.

Student Amateur Zone – Show Off Your Skills!

Are you a teen who lives for the hunt? Whether you’re just getting started or already a seasoned pro, the Waterfowl Hunters Expo is your chance to step up and show what you’ve got!

Grab your hunting buddy, your favorite duck gun, your sharpest calls—and get ready for three action-packed events designed to test your skills and fire up your competitive spirit:

Hunt-n-Cover Challenge – Team up and put your instincts to the test
Team Calling Exposition – 30 seconds to impress using any call
The Grand Kahoot – A fast-paced quiz to flex your waterfowl knowledge

No pressure, all fun—these informal competitions are built for laughs, learning, and some serious bragging rights. Oh, and did we mention the awesome prizes? You could win guided hunts, fishing trips, premium duck calls from JT Calls and Last Flight Calls, and Fleet Farm gift cards.

BHA Learn to Bear Hunt with Hounds

Coming on the heels of our recent wins for Public Land, the Wisconsin chapter of BHA will be holding TWO "Learn to Bear Hunt with Hounds" events this year! These events will take place on the same weekend- one event in Vilas County near Boulder Junction and a second in Oneida County near Rhinelander.

For these two events, we will be following along with two experienced hound hunters during our state's hound training season. If you're considering hunting with hounds as the next step in your hunting journey or just interested in the history and culture of hound hunting, this is the event for you!

Event dates are August 9th and 10th with the availability to take two students per day in each location. Camping is available for the Vilas weekend location and a shared cabin is available for the Oneida weekend location. Attendance is limited. exact locations will be shared with attendees prior to the hunt.

Applicants must RSVP through the website and send a short summary of their interest in this event.

Glacier Valley Gobblers Jakes Day 7-27-2025

Glacier Valley Gobblers Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is holding a Jakes event

on July 29, 2025.

We will be using volunteers from the Glacier Valley Gobblers NWTF, the Mad City Gobblers NWTF, and the Honey Creek Rod & Gun Club. We will be having several activities in the morning.

  • Shotgun shooting at clay pigeons. Trap style. Firearms will be available for use.

  • 22 Riffle shooting at still targets. Firearms will be there for use.

  • Archery shooting. Set up will be provided by the WI DNR

  • Bead jewelry making. Table will be set up with assorted beads and leather/string, etc.

-We are also hoping to have the Conservation Congress or OHEC trailer for kids to look through.

After activities, there will be lunch. During which we’ll do a raffle draw of some small prizes.

After which we will wrap up for the day.

Midwest Outdoor Heritage Education Expo (MOHEE) is presented & coordinated by The Outdoor Heritage Education Center (OHEC), non-profit conservation organization with the assistance of our many conservation friends.

Dates:  
May 7th, 2025 at Havenwoods State Forest, Milwaukee WI
May 14th or 15th, 2025 (pick the day that works best) at the MacKenzie Center in Poynette, WI.  

This event is a unique outdoor field trip where students can be face-to-face with wildlife, engage in outdoor recreational activities such as;  archery, airgun/bb gun safety, fishing, and more.  Natural resource disciplines and activities such as fisheries, forestry, wildlife and more all in one location. Students can explore mentored programs so they can develop outdoor skills and enjoy lifelong outdoor activities. Connect with educators, trained safety instructors and other volunteer mentors provide an enriching and engaging experience connecting the individual to Wisconsin's natural resources, outdoor heritage and lifelong skills.

Event is FREE
Transportation funding available, based on need.
Ideal for the 4th - 7th grade audience.

Event times: 9am - 3pm

Open house style, rotate between activity stations at your own pace.

Watertown/Marshall Area Learn to Turkey Hunt 4- 12 & 13 -202

LOCATION: All hunting locations will be in Dane, Jefferson, and Dodge counties. A classroom portion will occur before hunt dates near Marshall, WI. 

TIME: Classroom portion will be 4 hours near Marshall, WI in an afternoon, exact date to be decided later. 

Hunt weekend will be April 12 & 13, hunts will be in the AM and PM with a provided lunch on Saturday at 11:00AM. 

AGE OF PARTICIPANTS: 10+  

NUMBER OF YOUTH:  As many as sign up!

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:  This is a Learn to Hunt program through the WI DNR and all licenses and requirements will be waived. You will be hunting with a mentor at all times. 

WHAT TO EXPECT:  

Never hunted turkeys before and want to try? This event is perfect for you! Any person who has never hunted turkeys before of ANY age is welcome to participate as a Learn to Hunt participant. Come learn about turkey hunting with a seasoned turkey hunter who will be your guide for this event. Our program is designed to learn to necessary skills to pursue turkeys on your own and become the next seasoned hunter! You do not need your own gear or shotgun. Loaner equipment is available. 

This is a Learn to Hunt event in conjunction with the Marshall Lions Club and the Jefferson County NWTF. There will be a required 4-hour classroom portion approximately a week before the hunt weekend. In this classroom portion you will learn turkey biology, proper hunting techniques, how to pattern a shotgun, how to call, and decoy techniques. There will be experienced turkey hunters helping you out at the classroom portion the whole time. This is designed to help you be ready for your hunting experience! This classroom portion will provide you with a turkey tag at the end. 

During the hunting weekend, you will be paired with an experienced turkey mentor and go out to a scouted property. You will hunt doing a variety of techniques in order to find and hunt a turkey. You will meet up with your mentor before legal shooting light and get set up. You will hunt until mid-morning when everyone will meet up for lunch and raffles. Then you will go out Saturday night and hunt until dark. There will be a similar schedule on Sunday if you choose to hunt that day.

LOCATION: All hunting locations will be in Dane county.

Remaining harvest authorizations will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Each zone will have a designated sales date with sales starting at 10:00 a.m. and running through midnight each day. These sales will be held for five consecutive days with customers able to purchase one harvest authorization per day. Remaining harvest authorization for all zones will go on sale on the sixth day (one per day).

To get your Turkey Harvest Authorization for the 2025 season. You must log into Wisconsin DNR Go Wild! and enter the queue to by a license. Buy the tag that is available for the time period and zone that you wish to hunt. Time periods and zones are listed below.
