Wichita Clay Dusters Receive Community Grants To Support Youth Clay Target Program

Pass It On Outdoor Mentors is proud to announce that the Wichita Clay Dusters—a youth clay target team supported by the organization—have been awarded generous grants from the Wichita Wagonmasters, Kansas Friends of the NRA, The Ringneck Ruslters Pheasants Forever Chapter, and the Kansas Wildscape Foundation. These contributions will support program expansion, provide vital equipment, and ensure continued access to shooting sports for youth in the Wichita area.

Founded in 2021, the Wichita Clay Dusters were created to give local youth, many of whom are not connected to traditional school teams, a chance to participate in organized trap shooting. With no cost to participants, the program has become a welcoming space for beginners and experienced shooters alike to learn firearm safety, develop marksmanship skills, and gain confidence under the guidance of qualified mentors.

“These grants are a game-changer for our team,” said Brittany French, CEO of Pass It On Outdoor Mentors. “They allow us to continue offering a high-quality program at minimal to no cost to the families we serve while also expanding our ability to provide required gear, practice time, and competitions. We are deeply grateful to these incredible partners who believe in our mission and our youth.”

Grant funding from each organization will be used to cover the cost of ammunition, team gear, entry fees, and clay targets. With demand for youth shooting sports growing across Kansas, this support arrives at a critical time—ensuring that financial limitations do not prevent interested youth from joining the team.

“What makes the Clay Dusters special is that we welcome kids who might not otherwise have a chance to compete,” said Mike Christensen, Coach for the Wichita Clay Dusters and President for Pass It On Outdoor Mentors. “We focus on inclusion, mentorship, and safety—and these grants help us do all of that at a higher level.”

Now heading into its fourth season, the Wichita Clay Dusters have grown into a respected presence in the region’s youth shooting community, often serving as a launching pad for young shooters to participate in other hunting and outdoor mentorship opportunities through Pass It On Outdoor Mentors.
